Fort Lauderdale Booking Reports
Fort Lauderdale booking reports come from the Broward Sheriff's Office. Fort Lauderdale is the county seat of Broward County, with about 191,000 residents. The Broward Sheriff's Office runs all jail operations for the county. When someone is arrested in Fort Lauderdale, they go to one of the BSO's jail facilities for booking. The sheriff provides two online search tools for booking records: an arrest search and a booking blotter. Both are free to use and open to the public.
Fort Lauderdale Quick Facts
Fort Lauderdale Arrest Search Online
The Broward Sheriff's Office has an online arrest search tool at apps.sheriff.org/arrestsearch. This is the main way to look up booking reports for Fort Lauderdale. You can search by last name, first name, and booking date. Results show the holding facility, arrest number, charges, bond amount, and booking photo.
There is also a booking blotter at bookingblotter.sheriff.org. The booking blotter shows recent bookings in order. It is a quick way to see who has been arrested in Fort Lauderdale and the rest of Broward County in the last day or two. Both tools are free. No account or sign-up is needed.
The BSO says its arrest search provides "booking records, mugshots, charges, bail/bond records, custody information, court-related data, and release information." That covers just about everything you would find in a booking report. If you cannot find what you need online, call the Broward County Jail at (800) 224-5937 for help.
Broward Sheriff Search Tools
The Broward Sheriff's Office main site at sheriff.org is the hub for all booking report access in Fort Lauderdale. Below is the BSO homepage where you can find links to the arrest search, booking blotter, and jail information.
The arrest search tool shown below lets you enter a name and booking date range to find booking reports. It is name-based, so you need at least a last name to search. Under Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes, these records are public. The BSO makes them available online as part of its public records duty.
The booking blotter is another way to view recent Fort Lauderdale bookings. It lists people in the order they were booked. This is shown below.
Between the arrest search and the booking blotter, the Broward Sheriff's Office gives the public solid access to booking reports for Fort Lauderdale and every other city in the county.
Fort Lauderdale Jail Facilities
Broward County has four jail facilities. The main jail is right in Fort Lauderdale. The others are in Pompano Beach. All bookings for Fort Lauderdale arrests typically start at the main jail downtown.
| Main Jail | 555 SE 1st Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 |
|---|---|
| Conte Facility | Joseph V. Conte Facility, 1351 NW 27th Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL 33069 |
| North Broward | 1550 NW 30th Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL 33069 |
| Rein Facility | Paul Rein Detention Facility, 2421 NW 16 Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33069 |
| Main Phone | (954) 831-5900 |
| Jail Info | (800) 224-5937 |
Under Chapter 943 of the Florida Statutes, every adult booked at these facilities has their fingerprints and facial images captured and sent to the FDLE's statewide system. The booking report gets created as part of this intake process. All four facilities are part of the same Broward Sheriff system, so the records are centralized.
Note: The Records/Warrants Division is at 2601 West Broward Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312, phone (954) 831-8700.
Broward Department of Detention
The Broward Sheriff's Office has a dedicated Department of Detention that manages all jail operations. Their page at sheriff.org/DOD has details on the jail system, visitation, and inmate services. This is the department that creates and maintains all booking reports for Fort Lauderdale.
The Department of Detention page shown above covers everything from intake procedures to release information. If you need to find out where someone is being held after a Fort Lauderdale arrest, the arrest search tool will show the holding facility. You can also call the Public Records Unit at (954) 831-8700 to request copies of booking records or other arrest documents.
Booking Photo Rules in Fort Lauderdale
Booking photos from Fort Lauderdale arrests are public records. The BSO's arrest search shows mugshots as part of the results. This is legal under Florida's open records law.
But Chapter 901, Section 901.43 puts limits on how third parties use these photos. It is against the law for any for-profit website to charge money to remove a booking photo. If you ask for removal in writing and the site does not take it down within 10 days, you can file a civil action. Penalties are $1,000 per day. If they put it back up, penalties go to $5,000 per day.
Some records are restricted. Juvenile booking records, medical and mental health files, sealed or expunged records, and personal identifiers are not available to the public. Everything else on the booking report is open. This applies to Fort Lauderdale and all of Broward County.
